Relationships

Nobody is perfect.
     Nobody is always correct.

Never leave a true relation
     for a few faults.

A true relationship always
     corrects the faults
     through affection.

Affection is always greater than perfection.

Challenges to Sustain and Scale up Business

Premise
Hope these posts are useful for you. Many of you may be already practicing this; such people can help me by giving feedback to improve this series of posts. For others,  this will be helpful. The posts will be from what I have read, heard and seen as well as my views and experiences. Today’s post is the one part of Entrepreneurship.

Key challenges for entrepreneurs to sustain and scale up Business.
In this series, I will talk about the challenges I went through as well as I have observed people making them. We will look at what are the  Most Common Mistakes we make as an entrepreneur, which prevents us from scaling up  business. At the end we will get a clear picture of what has to be avoided.

1.  Will not let go. Want to control everything. Will not delegate.
You will do everything by yourselves due to the fear that others may not do it perfectly. You may need to spend time training him and then redo it if he has not done it as you desired. So, you will think why waste time. Instead of spending twice the time, it is better for you to accomplish the task in half the time.

The consequence of this
  • It will eat up your bandwidth.
  • You will be overloaded.
  • In the long run you will get burnt out.
Also, You will not be able to  do your task consistently. You will become a bottleneck. Many tasks will wait for your time.So you will not be able to do it as planned. You will be fire fighting.

This is mainly for the Entrepreneurs at the macro level, but holds good even for a team leader like in the IT industry. So, whoever has a reportee, they need to delegate their work properly to their subordinate or share with their peers to avoid this.

In short, you need to delegate to overcome this challenge or in order to avoid this mistake.

Personality Development

Premise
Before resuming my Blog posts, I thank Amutha, Balakumar and Manikandan for encouraging and persuading me to start this.

Hope these posts are useful for you. Many of you may be already practicing this; such people can help me by giving feedback to improve this series of posts. For others,  this will be helpful. I have planned to post at least once a week. The posts will be from what I have read, heard and seen as well as my views and experiences. Today’s post is the one part of Personality development.

Strengths & Improvement Area (Weakness)
Each one of you  will have strengths  as well as (weakness) improvement area. [I would prefer to call it improvement area, but for your better understanding, I have mentioned here it as weakness]  If you think that you have only strengths and no improvement area, then you are fooling yourself.

All human beings have both; people with no weakness are much above human beings.

To start with, you must be aware of your strengths and weaknesses. To identify this you need to introspect. Most of us don’t know these - in my (IT) career of over 25 years I have witnessed most people are not aware of their strength and weakness.

In my profession, in every appraisal(performance evaluation),  each individual has to write three of their strengths and three of their improvement areas. Most of them, over 95% will leave this blank. I used to coach them to find out their strengths and improvement areas.

I used to wonder how one can develop oneself and grow in their career if he/she doesn’t know these. At Least one should be aware of their strengths, so they can play to theirs strengths.

As everyone of you have both, only thing you can do, once you become aware of them, is to exhibit the strength more and exhibit the weakness less.

You can ask or wonder, whether you can remove the weakness or not. To eradicate or reduce the weaknesses, you need to do the following:
  • You have to identify your weakness (x, y,z).
  • You have to accept that x, y, z are your weakness.
  • Then you yourself or with a help of someone, probably your mentor (About mentor’s complete role, I will post elaborately later) chalk out a plan of actions to reduce the weakness.
  • The action plan may include actions like reading, training, counselling etc. Each weakness may have different set of actions and different timeline to get the desired result depending on the type of weakness and their level.
  • Periodically, you need to review your improvement with plan drawn and re-plan if required.

In the above, each step is important. If you can’t identify weakness, you can’t improve yourself. If you have identified, but you can’t accept then you can’t improve at all. Only a miracle has to happen to improve you.  I have come across such people also in my life.

Persons, who know their weakness but not ready to accept and improve them will hide their weakness with opposite trait.

Hope this was useful to a few. If you haven’t identified your strengths and weaknesses till now start identifying them.

Reconnect with Our Roots

India, our Mother Land has a great history. We, Indians have a great culture, heritage and civilization which should make us proud. In this fast twitter world, neither do we have the time to pass it to next generation nor do we give them the time to listen. The nuclear family structure has become the way of life these days. Due to this, the younger generation has unfortunately missed the opportunity of living with their grandparents which, in the previous generations, ensured that the baton is passed on to the budding generation.

When we spend our life chasing something (money?!?!) without knowing what we are chasing, we tend to forget the importance of our culture, heritage and the strength it provides to us and future generations. In my humble opinion, it is our duty to set aside some time for this forgotten responsibility. I thought of doing the same by taking this small step in creating this blog - RECONNECT WITH OUR ROOTS.

I am starting with the topic on God; I strongly believe without God’s blessings we cannot achieve anything. As per our tradition, I start with Vinayaka, Pillayar, Ganesha, Mooshika Vahana, Ganeshji, by whichever name one addresses Him.

Lord Ganesha is the most powerful and simple of all the Gods. He provides knowledge, prosperity and courage to us. He is also the Destroyer of Obstacles. It is for this reason that His grace is invoked by people before they undertake any task. Also, Lord Ganesha is one person whom even Lord Shani was not able to affect.

One of the powerful Ganesha Sloka

Let’s pray Lord Ganesha before we start anything. We will start together our journey “Reconnect with our Roots”.
